Our Story…

Katherine and Shirah both moved to Berlin in 2016 and first crossed paths in the early stages of acclimating to Berlin from their previous fitness-hub homes in LA and NYC, respectively. What first began as a bond over musculoskeletal anatomy and a shared love of nut butters evolved into something bigger when the two were commissioned by BECYCLE Berlin to create and codify the studio’s barre method in 2019. That project evolved into what is now the re:form Barre Teacher Training, which has now been hosted at BECYCLE studios in Berlin and Düsseldorf, as well as entirely online. The challenging yet rewarding process of building and teaching multiple iterations of this program led to the realization that just one training would never be enough… and that’s how re:form was born.

Our Philosophy…

regarding form started as a question: what do we, as movement instructors, want to see more of in our industry?

The list was long, but certain things stood out: more diversity, evidence-based training, empowering language, higher standards of safety, and a culture that values quality over aesthetics. We realized that what we really wanted was a community that shares and upholds such values, in which we and our fellow teachers, students, and movement lovers could share our love for the human body and what it can do, inspire one another to keep learning and challenging both ourselves and the status quo, and change the standard of what and who a great movement instructor can be.

Each training and workshop that we build originates from these values. We strive to teach in a way that is both evidence-based and inclusive, rigorous yet compassionate. Our aim is that every student we teach, and every student that our students teach, will be empowered to understand, embrace, and take full ownership their own body and movement practice — wherever, whatever, and however they choose.
