Informed Movement: Finding Balance Postpartum
In this workshop from the Informed Movement series, re:form offers a detailed dive into the specific needs of a postpartum body. In this 10-hour virtual workshop we will look at the numerous physical changes that take place in the period immediately following childbirth, and how we can adapt our programming choices to best serve the postpartum population.
Over the course of two days we will review relevant anatomical concepts and touch on a general overview of the birthing process. While acknowledging that every postpartum journey is unique, we’ll discuss fundamental checkpoints in the recovery process, as well as the how the physical demands of newly achieved parenthood may manifest during this time. You’ll be equipped with breath and movement strategies to safely support anyone postpartum — both in movement practice and in life.
This workshop is optimal for movement instructors of any modality who want to increase their confidence in working with the postpartum population, but is also suitable for anyone (including those who are currently postpartum, pregnant, or planning to be pregnant) with a sense of curiosity on this topic.
