Applied Movement Anatomy (AMA)

re:form’s Applied Movement Anatomy workshop is an essential exploration of the fundamental musculoskeletal anatomy that fosters human movement. This 20-hour course is a must for movement instructors and enthusiasts who want to know how the theoretical understanding of movement can be applied to and enrich movement experience in real life. We will identify and study the joints and tissues responsible for global movement by bringing awareness to relevant structures, muscles, and relationships in our own bodies, as well as give functional context to how these actions apply to a range of movements across a variety of fitness and movement disciplines.

Level Up: Using Language

Level Up: Using Language

One of our most effective resources as teachers is language. Effectively communicating the mechanics or quality of a movement can facilitate a student’s connection to their movement practice in new and exciting ways, while thoughtless language can have the exact opposite effect, excluding students and undermining their relationship to their practice. We believe that language matters, and that students should expect a higher level of commitment from their movement instructors to precision, anatomical accuracy, and respect.
